Rules and Information

Family members are requested not to visit the school during the three weeks of the course. Parents staying in the area may take their child with them on the Sundays, provided they arrange this with the Director or the house personell in advance.  Friends and relatives may attend all public concerts. They must purchase their own tickets. House concerts are not open to the public or to parents.

Pianos are to be treated with respect.  No food, beverages or other items may be placed on the pianos!  After using a school room for practise or rehearsal, the lights are to be turned out and the windows closed before leaving.  Students will be held responsible for damages caused by rainwater through failure to close  windows.

The front door to the dormitory will be locked at 10 p.m.  All younger students (under age 16) must be in their rooms and quiet at 10 p.m.  Older students (16 and above) must be in their rooms and quiet at 11 p.m.

During quiet hours, (bed-times until breakfast) no practicing or loud noise is permitted. Rooms are to be kept tidy and windows closed when the room is not occupied.

Students and teachers alike are required to attend all house concerts.

All students must appear in the dining room for breakfast.

For concert performance: dressy attire, not daily wear  (no shorts, T-shirts, jeans, or inappropriate clothing). Black attire is required for orchestra performances.

It is expected that students will take special care with their personal hygiene and not inflict unpleasant body odors upon their immediate surroundings, teachers and colleagues. Those who fail to do so will be reminded.  Clothing will be washed free of charge.  However,  a fee of CHF 3.- will be charged for those wishing to use a washing machine for their clothes alone.

Students are not permitted to go on hikes in the mountains on their own, as there are too many risks involved.  A hike with a professional guide will be organised on one of the Sundays for those who wish to participate.  Proper shoes are a requirement!

Consumption of alcohol is strictly forbidden at all times with the exception of the two party nights.  The amount of alcohol permitted at those two events will be restricted and supervised.
